Nate (16) & Eli (14) may have the most important job of all here at Big Grove Farms. They socialize puppies every day!! We are strong believers that especially in today’s world, kids need an animal to look after or have a responsibility for. Nate and Eli also do a great job assisting me with temperament testing and the day to day puppy chores.
Why we raise TRT’S
Shortly before Seth and I were married, we purchased an older farm that was previously owned by his great uncle. The farm was in need of many repairs and updates along with some rodent control. That is when we found and purchased our first pair of “Rat Terriers.” Those two rat terriers “Penny” and “Cooper” did not disappoint and they loved their job!! In recent years, we have focused more on raising Teddy Roosevelt Terriers or as some may know them as the shorter legged type b rat terriers. We like the strong bone structure, thick muscling and lower to the ground body stature of the Teddies. They are an amazing prey driven breed that will work when asked but also have a “turn off” switch. As a whole, TRT’S are a fairly healthy breed. However, every breed has something that should be tested for. We do our best to keep up with anything new that may show up and regularly test our adult dogs.
